Restaurant Fire Suppression Systems

NFPA codes require that all kitchen fire suppression systems inspections be performed semi-annually by a state licensed fire technician. Kitchen Restaurant fires are some of the most dangerous fires. Starting rapidly from a single stovetop or cooking appliance, then spreading to other cooking appliances or up into a hood and ductwork quickly. Fires within the kitchen cause extensive damage and lives are even lost during such an event.

Our professionally trained and certified Safety Technician’s will perform the restaurant kitchen fire suppression system inspection to meet local and state code and insurance requirements. We service all makes of fire suppression systems.

All inspections meet NFPA 17A requirements; we complete a detailed inspection of the hood, filters, extinguishers within the restaurant, replace fusible links, clean and adjust nozzles as needed . Each Safety Technician completes a detailed inspection report and completes a certification tag as well as gives instruction to any staff on hand on how to use the Kitchen Restaurant Fire Suppression System so that your staff will be prepared and respond appropriately in the event of a fire.

We present you a copy of this report with recommendations on any changes or updates required in order to maintain your system, we also file a copy of the Report with the local Authority Having Jurisdiction (Fire Marshall). We then will add you to our system for tracking follow up inspections so you never have to worry about falling out of compliance.

Changes in Regulatory Requirements.

All restaurant kitchen fire suppression systems manufactured after 1994 must comply with the UL 300 standard to account for increased commercial cooking times and temperatures. Dry chemical kitchen systems have been replaced with wet systems to accommodate hotter and longer cooking times.

What is UL 300?

UL 300 is the industry accepted standard for “Fire Testing of Fire Extinguishing Systems for Protection of Commercial Cooking Equipment”. Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is an independent, not-for-profit product-safety testing and certification organization.

How do I know if a system meets UL 300 standards?

According to Underwriters Laboratory, there is only one way to verify that a system meets UL 300. First, check with UL that the model number is listed as UL 300 compliant. Then, verify that all components have been installed as specified by the manufacturer’s manual
